Catchphrase

If you’re looking for the easiest, most convenient game to play, Catchphrase is your game. Though not strictly a board game, Catchphrase still captures the essence of one. First, split players into two teams. Then everyone sits in a circle, with a team member in every other position. When you start the electronic gadget, a word appears on the screen and the person holding it must get their team to guess it. When they do, the player hands the gadget off to the person on their right. Then that player (who is on a different team) pushes a button and a new word appears. Similarly, that player describes the word while their team guesses it.images

All this is happening to the sound of a beeper. It starts slow, but as the time runs down, the beeping rhythm steadily gets faster. As the gadget is being passed around the circle, the person who is holding it loses a point for their team. You play to whatever score your group decides upon.

Like I said, it’s a pretty simple game, and it’s always a good time. It’s also easy to bring to parties if you want to make sure it’s lively. The one downfall is that there is no “twist” or exciting part to the game, and it can get old pretty quickly. Overall, I give it a 7/10.
